Project Description

Scope: Provision of Consultancy Services for the development of detailed Management Plans for the nature reserves in Lebanon including detailed operational plans

This assignment “Development of Detailed Management Plans for the nature reserves in Lebanon including detailed operational plans” falls under the UNDP project “STEPping up Nature Reserves Capacity – STEP4Nature” that aims to improve the management of nature reserves in Lebanon to ensure their protection from environmental pollution and degradation and the preservation of their terrestrial, aquatic, coastal or marine heritage components.

Description of Provided Services

  • Assess the current status of the reserves with existing management plans.
  • Assess the current situation of the remaining selected reserves.
  • Update the existing management plans and develop management plans for the rest.
  • Leveraging the natural, cultural, and historical heritage of the nature reserves and their surrounding areas.
  • Establish goals and objectives for the future.
  • Involve the Ministry of Environment (MoE), natural resource management committees, relevant ministries like the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), local key actors, and impacted communities in the development of management plans.
  • Identify how those goals and objectives are or will be prioritized and how they will be met (development of the management plans).
