Description of the project: CAMP project addresses the conservation of natural coastal
resources in the area located between Damour and Naqoura (8
km wide strip of land) by developing and applying concepts
of sustainable development as well as methods and tools of
Integrated Coastal and Marine Management (ICAMM) to the economic
and social development activities of the area.
Services:
Review of literature and interviews with stakeholders, experts
and governmental staff concerning the environment, agriculture
and fishery in the area.
Data collection using sector-specific questionnaires presented
to municipal council members, merchants, farmers and fishermen
in the CAMP area in general and the three concerned municipalities
in particular.
Identified legislations related to environment, agriculture
and fishery.
Analyses of the current situation within the sectors, environmental
conditions and impacts of tourism development along the coastline
on the fishery and marine environment in the area.
Development of set indicators for each sector, completion
of SWOT analyses and development of strategy for the preservation
and sustainable development of natural resources within the
three sectors.
