Project Description: The project aims at implementing a waste management system
that introduces sorting-at-source and enhancing selective
collection by the municipality of Damour. The objective of
the project is to allow the municipality to manage the collection
services, promote awareness and waste reduction, control costs
and benefit from sale of recyclables.
Services:
Collection of base information concerning the characteristics
of the region, the local population, the current solid waste
management system and the quantity of solid waste generated
in the area.
Development of a solid waste management system (mainly collection
services) that is based on separation at source (wet/dry waste),
selective collection by the municipality and storage of recyclable
dry components for sale to the local recycling market.
Preparation of awareness campaigns and technical training
sessions to promote waste separation, waste minimization and
backyard composting for the various stakeholders.
Preparation of technical document, including feasibility study/project
implementation costs, for use in soliciting funds (within
a project financed by the European Union).
