Project Description: Lebanon Chemicals Company (LCC) intended to install
a stainless steel pipeline for the transfer of phosphoric
acid from the on-site storage tanks to the neighboring
port facility belonging to the Oils and Derivatives Company (ODC), to benefit
from the port ability to receive ships of capacity greater than 8,000 tons.
The pipeline was made of 316 L stainless steel suitable for phosphoric
acid conveyance due to its reliability, strength,
and corrosion resistance. The
length of the pipe was 1,800 m whereby a section of 470 m was installed
inside the plant’s premises and a section of 1330 m was installed across private
land (owned by LCC and others), and within the premises of ODC until it reaches
the Jabbour quay terminal.
Services:
Tasks included: Identifying existing Lebanese legislation
related to the authorization for use and protection of
the maritime public domain, particularly in Selaata,
as well as legislation related to environmental protection and management,
analysis of the project components, environmental data collection in and
around the town of Selaata: physical, biological and socio-economic
data, analysis
of impacts on the environment, recommend mitigation measures during the
construction and operation phase: health and safety, spill
prevention and waste generation
are of great concern.
