Project Description:
The project consisted of an
awareness campaign on environmental health issues for
Palestinian population living within the camps of Naher El
Bared and Beddawi. The camps are respectively located 17 km
north and 5 km northeast of Tripoli in North Lebanon. The
environmental program was a component of a European Community
Humanitarian Office (ECHO) grant given to the United Nations
Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near
East (UNRWA).
Objectives:
Developing a greater public awareness and participation in
environmental management issues; motivating positive changes
in attitude and behavior of the local population;
encouraging a habitat of taking environmentally sustainable
choices in every-day life; and leading to a cleaner
environment within and around the camps and consequently
improve health conditions on the local and surroundings
inhabitants.

Situational analysis
including field surveys/questionnaires, meetings with
stakeholders, background research and photo-documentation,
Organization and implementation of several workshops at the
communities and institutional levels and developing
audio-visual communication material, including production of a
documentary film (25 minutes) for TV.
