Project Description: This project mainly centers on developing hiking trails along three different routes in the Forgotten Cities in the region of Aleppo. The rehabilitation of these hiking trails will ultimately contribute to the valorization of Syria’s natural culture, heritage, and its archeological sites. The hiking trails have been established along the following three circuits:

Trail 1: Brad, Kafr Nabou, Borj Haydar, Kharab Shams, Kalota.

Trail 2: Banastour, Sinkhar, Sheikh Sleiman, Surkania, Batouta.

Trail 3: Sheikh Barakat, Qatoura, Rafadeh, Sit El Room, Qalaat Samaan.

Development Phase
:
Project design, and identification of three (3) circuits for rehabilitation

Execution Phase:

  • Signage design, preparation of design guide

  • Rehabilitation of trails (tracing, cleaning, and grading)

  • Manufacturing of letters, words, symbols and molds for the signs, as well as construction and placement of signs (directional and trail maps)

  • Organization and holding of launching events and workshops

  • Development of communication material including webpage, brochures and a Video/DVD documentary.
